AIP conducts media production and video editing training workshop at SVPUAT, Meerut

The Agricultural Innovation Partnership took another successful step to leverage upon the capacity built at Assam Agriculture University in the area of ‘Media production and content development for e-learning courses’ under the project. Dr. Jyoti Gogoi (AAU, Jorhat) who had earlier received training at Cornell University, Ithaca in ‘various techniques of video lecture capturing and editing’, visited SVPUAT, Meerut along with Sathguru team to pass on that expertise to faculty and resources at SVPUAT.

AIP review team visit Indian Partner Institutes

An external review team from USAID visited the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU from 18 to 20 June, 2014. The team led by Dr. Mark Balschweid, Senior Agriculture Specialist, Social Impact, Inc. and Dr. RajagopalArunachalam, Agriculture Specialist, Social Impact, Inc., visited the campus to assess the various components that have been implemented in the university under AIP so far. The team was accompanied by Dr. KV Raman, International Coordinator, Dr. Suresh Damodaran, Program Coordinator, Dr. C Ramasamy, National Coordinator and Mr. Ananthan Murthy, Information Specialist.

Chicken and Fish pickle from AIP, a hit among local entrepreneurs
Nagaon | Assam

After enabling Meghalee Food Products adopt the technology of preparing meat and fish pickle from Assam Agricultural University (AAU), the Agricultural Innovation Partnership, yet again facilitated the adoption of this successful technology to JM Foods, a local enterprise in Assam. The chicken and fish pickle was commercially launched on 25 June, 2014 in Nagaon, Assam. Key delegates from AIP and AAU were present during the product launch. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Jerna Medhi, Proprietor, JM Foods, said, “ We are very grateful to Agricultural Innovation Partnership & Assam Agricultural University for helping us in adopting this technology and in creating these pickles. The hands-on training we received from AIP program has benefitted us enormously”.

AIPs training on cyber library helps BHU build its second cyber library
04 July, 2014 | Varanasi

After successfully launching its first cyber library with the assistance from AIP, Banaras Hindu University has taken a step forward by establishing a second cyber library in its campus. The second phase of the cyber library, which marked the completion of the project, was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of BHU on 02 July, 2014. With nearly 500 workstations and 455 computers, the library will provide access to over 14,000 journals and other materials to the students. The library will be accessible to students 24×7 without any charges being imposed on them.

AIP trains farmers on better sugarcane yielding practices
03 July, 2014 | Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh

A day long training program was conducted for farmers in Ghaziabad on 3rd July 2014 to improve their yield of sugarcane.The program commenced at 10 am at KVK Muradnagar. Close to 100 farmers from the surrounding areas participated in the program. The program was chaired and summarized by Dr. Babu Ram, Director Extension and hosted by Dr. Vipin Sharma, SMS Agronomy, KVK, Muradnagar Key delegates present at the event were Director Extension Dr.Baburam, Components director Dr Ashok Kumar, DR Satendra Kumar Khari, Associate Director Extension,Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology (SVPUA&T), Mr. Bob Reseguie, Dr. Mark Balschweid,Dr. Rajagopal Arunachalam, Dr Suresh, AIP program coordinator and officials from Tata Chemicals Limited participated in the training. AIP sensitizes farmers on increasing production and productivity of agricultural crops

A two-day long training programme was organized at Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barkachha on 20-21 June, 2014 by Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU in collaboration with USAID under AIP’s “Technology Dissemination and Income Improvement Activities”. The main objective of the programme was to sensitize the farmers on ways to increase production and productivity of agricultural crops by following scientific methods of farming suited to their agro-climatic conditions and market demand.

AIP trains JM Foods on chicken and fish product manufacturing

A day long training workshop on product development and manufacturing of fish, chicken pickle and hygienic dry fish was held at the facilities of JM Foods, Nagaon on 4 June, 2014. The hands-on training was organized to transfer the unique technology developed by Assam Agricultural University to JM Foods. The training focused on aspects like recipe, production process, hygiene, quality control, ingredient specification, regulatory aspects, food safety measures, labeling, pricing and product distribution strategy. A pilot batch of both chicken and fish pickle were prepared under the guidance of product developers from AAU.

AIP- AAU’S pickle a hit among entrepreneurs

A technology transfer event was organized at Assam Agricultural University, Khanpara Campus on 22 March, 2014. A MoU was signed between JM Foods, a local entrepreneur and Assam Agricultural University. AIP-AAU’s successful initiative of development of fish & meat pickle has gained good market share in Assam since its technology transfer to local entrepreneurs earlier in 2013. As precedent of this successful commercialization and looking at the popularity of the product, a pickle manufacturer from Guwahati, “J M Foods” decided to adopt this technology of manufacturing pickles from AAU, Jorhat. Ms. Jarna Medhi, a small entrepreneur from Nagaon involved in manufacturing of vegetarian pickles, Jam Squash etc will now avail the benefits of this technology.

AIP sensitizes librarians on enhancing library systems & management and e- learning

A two- day long collaborative workshop on improving library systems & management and e- learning was conducted by Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP) at Banaras Hindu University,Varanasi on 5th and 6th February, 2014. The workshop was attended by senior librarians from ten agricultural universities and senior faculty members from Banaras Hindu University, Cornell University and Sathguru Management Consultants Pvt Ltd. The focus of the workshop was primarily on research support services that an agriculture and life sciences library might offer, including research data management, utilization of GIS data and technologies, and citation management, information literacy & E-resources.

The Assamese Thali to be enriched by the Delicacy of Fish and Meat Pickle

The Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP) enabled a women’s self help group adopt the technology of preparing meat and fish pickle from Assam Agricultural University (AAU). In addition to adding to the variety of the Assamese plate, these products would ease people’s access to cooked meat and fish, sans the trouble of cooking. The transfer of technology took place between AAU and Meghalee Food Products in Jorhat on 23 August, 2013
