Ronnie Coffman
Principal Investigator
Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP)

Dr. Ronnie Coffman is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP) project and is responsible for overseeing the design, conduct, and reporting of the project and managing, monitoring, and ensuring the integrity of any collaborative relationships. In addition to his role as the PI of AIP, Dr. Coffman serves as International Professor of Plant Breeding and Director of International Programs of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. Previous positions include Associate Dean for Research and Director, Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station; Chair of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, and Plant Breeder at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Dr. Coffman’s work has been important to the development of improved rice varieties grown on several million hectares throughout the world. He has collaborated extensively with institutions in the developing world and has served as a board member for several international institutes. His Ph.D. is from Cornell and undergraduate work was done at the University of Kentucky, his home state.

Kandukuri V. Raman
International Program Coordinator
Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP)

Dr. K.V. Raman is the International Program Coordinator (IPC) of the Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP) project, serving as the liaison between US and Indian partners to ensure project activities meet all USAID milestones and expectations. In addition to his role as IPC, Dr. Raman serves as Professor of Plant Breeding and Associate Director of International Programs of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. Previous positions include Director of ISAAmeriCenter; Program Leader; Integrated Pest Management Program at the International Potato Center; Executive Director of Cornell International Collaborative Project in Potato Late Blight Control; and Associate Director of the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project II (ABSPII). Dr. Raman has been responsible for implementing several projects in biotechnology transfer and teaching including potato and eggplant improvement in developing countries. He has a Ph.D. in Agriculture and Horticulture from the University of Reading, UK.

C. Ramasamy
National Project Coordinator
Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP)


Prof Ramasamy has served as the Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India and helped in conducting valuable international research, shown the way for reforming agricultural education and fostered collaborations with leading US Land Grant Universities such as Cornell University, Michigan State University and University of California, Davis. As the National Project Coordinator, Dr Ramasamy is providing support in Monitoring and Evaluation of the Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP) project. Being familiar with participatory evaluation, assessing socio-economic and gender impact, data analysis and interpretation, and ex-ante impact, Prof Ramasamy has been making valuable contributions towards nurturing the AIP project.

K. Vijayaraghavan
Regional Project Coordinator
Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP)

K. Vijayaraghavan (Vijay), the chairman of Sathguru Management Consultants, takes special interest in exploring the potential of applying technological innovations in life sciences, to address the problems of resource-constrained agricultural communities in India. He is a renowned technology manager with an experience of over 25 years and has multiple majors in graduate programs and fellowship in finance, strategic and technology management. Mr. Vijayaraghavan has provided support in facilitating the smooth functioning of the Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP) project at both Indian partner universities and US land-grant partner institutes. He is also providing support in establishing Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization (OTTC) at Banaras Hindu University and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology. He actively participates in AIP workshops and conferences and provides valuable, strategic insights that go a long way in benefiting the AIP project.
